“It is never to late or too soon, it is when it is supposed to be.”
My Rating : *4 Stars*
Well this is my first book that is written by the author Mitch Albom and I would like to say his writing is very soulful. Though the way this book is written is quiet annoying for me that is the only reason I gave it 4 stars! else this book have everything really awesome quotes, a good message, the philosophy and a good creation myth.
This story was about a person named Dor, Father Time, and it begins long ago, at the dawn of man’s history. At that time there were not much things to do, people used to live a very simple life and this boy did the same.
But he did one more thing and that was counting, he loved to play with numbers, counting everything , marking the special moments and always calculating the days and the nights and then he tried to measure TIME.
So, for this he was penalized or say punished by the God, he was imprisoned in a cave.He was banished for centuries and lived 6000 years in the past. Not only this he was asked to hear all the bitching about time from the people all around the world. Dor didn’t age a day inside the cave, he didn’t need water, food or sleep for the years he was in the cave and he was given a power that he can understand all the languages. “God’s way to annoy him.”
But then God finally granted him the freedom, but with some work for him to do. Dor was to help two people Sarah,a teenage girl, and Victor, an aging businessman.
This book have three characters one who had nothing, one who had everything and one who had nobody.
All of them made a mistake and tried to overpower time and failed.
They wanted time to stop for them, they wanted more time and someone even wanted another lifetime!
“You had many more years,” he said
“I didn’t want them.”
“But they wanted you. Time is not something you give back. The very next moment maybe an answer to your prayer. To deny that is to deny the most important part of the future.”
“When hope is gone, time is punishment.”
The teenage girl wanted to give up her life!
“I made such a fool of myself,” she lamented.
“Love does not make you a fool.”
“He didn’t love me back.”
“That does not make you a fool, either.”
“Just tell me …” Her voice cracked. ” When does it stop hurting?”
The aging businessman wanted to live for ever!
“Do you understand now?” he asked. “With endless time nothing is special. With no loss or sacrifice, we can’t appreciate what we have.”
And Father Time was there to save them all, the girl, the businessman and of course himself!
This book basically tells you that don’t take time for granted, don’t wish it away, don’t take it in your hands. Love it or hate it, time keeps moving forward.
I recommend this book to everyone and I really liked the writer’s imagination.
This book is a light-read with a good message!
Though there is a thing I didn’t understand about the businessman, that when he already learned a lesson in the early years of his life, that holding on to things “will only break your heart.”…then why the hell he was holding onto time?
