Although no one can see the future of this world, but it can be shaped up with the help of past and present. If we think about the massive changes we have faced in the recent and decent past, we can get an idea how these changes affected the society in which we dwell. The usage of information and communication technology in the world has increased for the great need of development and globalization. Now it is the time to think about the impact of technology in the education of children its need in student learning. As we know education is fourth most important thing in human life after food, clothing and shelter. It should also undergo a change with the new generation and with new possibilities. Teachers often comment, “My children do not need computers they need the basics”. The reality is that computers and their accompanying applications, as well as other technology are the basics for today’s children and also help teachers to give more knowledge to their children. It is well said by David Thorn burg that, we are preparing children for their future and not for our past in 1996. The new generation is growing with technology and exploring it with every passing year, new inventions, new gadgets, exiting new products of technology often amaze children to explore new things and to go with the flow of developed world. The world is changing it is getting smaller and bigger at the same time. But the traditional system of education is still the same, and it should also be changed. In addition of reading, writing and arithmetic, children and youth must develop process skills in problem solving and critical thinking, communication, technical reading and writing, applied technical reasoning. Using technology as a tool. We should not forget what Einstein said in New York on October 15, 1936 on the three hundredth anniversary of higher education in America, that education is not simply a tradition to pass knowledge from one generation to another using a textbook, which are redefined after many years, but for new changes to come with the new generation we should re define education as we have to prepare children for this society. Today we have progressed so have our technologies. Technologies has helped humanity get things done faster and there is no doubt or shortage of recognition of these increased benefits of humanity, and now we can compare technology to rains which showers the whole world and will definitely not disappear in the coming future. At present most of the young generation from this portion of population has become deeply integrated with internet technology on a daily basis since birth. In a recent research by Gutnick in 2010,in the research ,it is found that children under one year old spend approximately 49 minutes per day using screen media, whereas children under 2-3 years approx. 1.5 hours and overall children under 8-18 years are exposed to media 10.45 hours per day. So technology will definitely give a good result and there is a great interest of children towards technology and will like to use it in studies as well. The predictions done by the co founder of Intel Corporation, Gordon Moore in 1965 is about the exponential growth of technology, In his prediction he suggested that the processing power and speed of any technology doubles every 18 months. At the same time, the price for that technology will decline approximately 35% a year relative to the power. The accuracy of Moore’s predictions has proven frighteningly accurate. Technology we our using will merge, at an increasingly rapid pace and will give good products to the world. According to the prediction done by Moore, in the distinct future technology will not only be more powerful than we have now ,but will cost less, and will be affordable for research ,for schools and also for families. It is well known to all that education undergoes slow changes, especially in installing technologies. The trend in technology is creating future that is arriving faster than education is preparing for it. As pointed out by the director of International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore about the four L’s of learning which are Lecture, Library, Laboratory and Life, it is found that technology plays an important role in all these. Taking the reverse stance of education, business and industry have adopted the approach of staying up-to-date with technology. The current economy appears to support technology but our majority schools continues to adopt the approach of remaining several technological generation behind business and industry. For the world economy to grow more the educators have to inculcate and should implement the use of technology, because in future the most of the jobs will be using technological fluency of candidates and to prepare these candidates for future, they need to be skilled in accessing the vast array of information through advanced technology and should be able to process information. They must know how to use computers and be familiar with various types of technology. In a report presented by the World Information Technology and Service Alliance(WISTA) in October 1998,it reports about the ‘Digital Planet’, the global information data corporation to perform this study which presents the broadcast view of current level of customers spending on information technology and communication technology. The study concluded that spending on information and communication technology is a critically important for the economy to grow which is very important for the global world. At present education is moving with tortoise pace, while the world is speeding with a supersonic wave. If we introduce technology in education then the current teaching paradigm of the teacher as a knowledge transferor will shift to a new paradigm of the teacher. This new method of teaching will provide contextual learning environment that engage in collaborative activities that will require communication and access to information that only technology can provide. Crucial question revolve around how will we install a mindset in educators so they will incorporate the potential of present and new technologies into the curriculum quickly? Further problem which educators are facing is that implementing technology in education, will need teachers with good technological fluency and technological knowledge, but this is a great problem since older generation have not lived in with technology to prepare them for it great efforts will be needed. This is also said by Willis & Mehlinger in 1996 that since large-scale induction of computers into America’s schools in the early 1980′s, there has been reluctant of educators to implement them. A major barrier to how teachers should be prepared to use technology. Written by Gentry and Csete in 1990 that pressure from government, business and industry will “force the educational establishment to better prepare graduates for the workplace. Implementation of new education pattern like CCE (Continuous and comprehensive evaluation)newly introduced by Central Board of Secondary Education in India, for students of sixth to tenth grades. Its main aim is to evaluate every aspect of the child during their presence at the school. It is implemented to help reduce the pressure on the child during/before examinations. This method is claimed to bring enormous changes from the traditional chalk and talk method of teaching, provided if it is implemented accurately. It is said that “When the rate of change inside an institution is less than the rate of change outside, the end is in site…..” As the economy, the world outside is changing so it is needed to change the education system as well as one day it will not be able to produce candidates needed by the society and will collapse. We can’t predict what will be the outcomes of introducing technology in education, but without introducing it we can’t say whether the outcomes are good or bad. It will be a pleasure of reminiscence to compare the olden trend of education to the present trend and to imagine the future full of advancement. For me there is no past no future it is the present which is the reality and nothing else is real. So, to make future more specialized, and to think of past an example for the improvement, we should work on our present which is overflowed with technology. The implementation of technology in today’s education system will definitely make the students learn better, help in lifelong learning by adopting technology and will make their tomorrow a better one as it is said “In today walks tomorrow”. Preparing students of 21st century educators should come out and should start looking at the road ahead and should understand the need of educating both children and adults to make our present and future bright. Introducing advanced study at school level is of no use for that we have college, as we do not want children specialized in only one profession but for the society we need all-rounders .But there is a great need of technology in schools as the whole society is now dependent on technology, making its use in everyday life and this can only be done by the help of schools. Old ideas die hard; however we must not forget the lesson history teaches us. Researchers and educators alike must move from entrenched position. We must not only do things differently, but do them quickly. One of the most critical needs at present is that of finding new ways to connect learners and teachers, we have found some of them and other methods are still to be discovered. I as a student can predict how technology will shape our future. But knowing exactly what happens in our future is of no importance. It is important for that educator must have a sense of where the world is headed. Only then will they be able to adequately prepare current and future students to thrive in this ever changing world.
